Bring Down the House with Homemade Chili

With your Super Bowl & Fall parties just around the corner, you are probably searching for recipes to ooh and ahh your guests during the big game. Well if you're like me, there is nothing more enjoyable to eat during the Super Bowl than a big bowl of homemade chili. But you have no recipe you say? Fortunately I'm about to share with you the secret ingredients to the most homemade, delicious chili you have ever tasted.
Here's what you'll need:
  • 3 lb ground beef
  • 1 can (22 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (19 oz) kidney beans
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 large Spanish onion (chopped)
  • 3 pieces of fresh garlic (chopped)
  • 2 tsp. basil
  • 2 tsp. parsley
  • 1 pinch of chili powder
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Brown the beef in olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onions and saute until the onions are tender. Add remaining ingredients and cook covered over medium heat for 30-45 minutes. Stir occasionally, mashing up tomatoes with a spoon. Let simmer uncovered over low heat for 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally. Before serving individual bowls, melt cheddar cheese on top. Yum!
