Decorating for a Graduation Party

Celebrating a graduation is a big deal - the graduate has accomplished something extraordinary and all their hard work has finally paid off. Graduation party decorations go a long way in making a great first impression for the guests and you want the graduation party decoration ideas to be festive and celebratory.
  • Graduation Party Decoration Ideas: Show some school spirit and decorate the venue using balloons, streamers, and flower arrangements in the school's colors. Design the graduation party table decorations around the school mascot or extracurricular activity that the guest of honor took part in while at school. If they've graduated from college you could also base the graduation party decor around their major. For instance, a business major's party could have a Wall Street theme. If the graduate is off to college or moving somewhere for a job, create the theme around where they are moving. Collect pictures from throughout the graduate's life and frame them for the table settings. It will be fun for guests to see how far he/she has come. Don't hesitate to personalize the graduate party decoration - the graduate will be touched!
  • Food and Drinks: Depending on the type of graduation, you'll probably have guests of all ages. Create a lemonade stand for the youngsters with a variety of flavored lemonades, ice and silly straws. For the over 21 crowd, fill tin buckets with ice and a variety of seasonal bottled beer. Make a fun tropical punch with and without alcohol and add some cut up fresh fruit. For a large crowd, order premade pizzas and chicken wings from your grocerty store. Cut up the pizza into smaller pieces and place in fun colored cupcake cups. Do the same with the chicken wings but place a dollop of blue cheese on top of each wing. If the graduation party is a smaller affair, make or buy a variety of pasta salads, an antipasto, a cheese tray and a variety of fresh breads with flavored olive oil and butter. A cake in the graduate's favorite flavor is definitely one popluar way to go, but bite-size cheesecakes or mini cupcakes are also fun and easy to eat for guests on the go.
  • Gift Table: Many graduates look forward to graduating not because it means they're on to the next big thing but because there are gifts involved! Accentuate the graduation party decor with a gift table and guest sign-in book so everyone can leave a special note the graduate. Display a framed note on the table that thanks everyone for their thoughtfulness and generosity. It's also a nice touch to make little bags of candy (in school colors, of course!) as take-home gifts for all guests.
Graduation party decorating should be fun - so enjoy planning the big day for your special graduate!
